Craig Schiavone

Craig Schiavone

These stylised images by Craig Schiavoni focus on youth sport photography and montaging. The result is very visually effective. Here is a baseball player pitching. Studio lighting has been used so all the images are clearly staged.

In this image he has also included the textures of the baseballs stitching. This style of photography is highly commercial and in my opinion loses the excitement and essence of the sport.

Chalk covered gymnast has been photographed. I feel that this is one of his more powerful examples of his montaging, however I feel that it's been over edited, a simpler image would be more effective.

These two images of a young baseball player are plainer, but well lit. Good use of a shallow depth of field, although it's been clearly orchestrated it feels more authentic than the previous images.

Although here the photographer has experimented with crumpled paper to enhance the backdrop, there is little contrast between the colour of the paper and the colour of the fencing uniform.

Smoke machine and photoshopped lens flare.

This is a style of photography I will be avoiding.
